1st Place Winner — Business Plan Competition

Business Plan Competition Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa Nov 2024

Business Plan Competition (BPC) is a national business competition organized by the Food Technology Student Association of Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (Untirta). In November 2024, I participated as part of a team that developed Hibby Gummy, a functional food concept designed to support diabetes management among children and adolescents. The product was formulated using hibiscus leaf extract and stevia, combining a health-oriented concept with a convenient gummy format. Beyond product development, the project involved developing a business model, market strategy, production planning, and financial projections.

Working collaboratively with my team, I contributed to the development of the product concept and business strategy, from identifying the underlying health problem to translating it into a potential food business opportunity. We developed a business model incorporating quality assurance, laboratory testing, digital distribution, community engagement, and collaboration between academic, industry, and government stakeholders. I also participated in preparing and presenting the business proposal during the final round, communicating the product concept and its business potential to a panel of judges consisting of university academics and a representative from the Banten Food Security Agency.

Our team successfully advanced to the offline final round and competed against finalist teams from Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Brawijaya, and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. After presenting and defending our business concept before the judging panel, we were awarded 1st Place in the Business Plan Competition. The experience strengthened my ability to transform a food science-based idea into a structured business concept while communicating its value from both technical and commercial perspectives.
