Student Exchange

Kasetsart University

Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University Bangkok, Thailand May 2025 – Apr 2026

An international student exchange program at the Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University, Thailand, from May 2025 to April 2026. The program provided international academic exposure through classroom learning, hands-on laboratory activities, and research collaboration in Food Engineering and sustainable food technology. The experience also offered opportunities to engage with international academics and students, strengthen technical and research competencies, and contribute to collaborative research between Universitas Sebelas Maret and Kasetsart University.

During the exchange, I learned and applied machine learning techniques for predictive analytics and mathematical model fitting in agro-industrial research. Despite having no prior background in mathematics or machine learning, I actively learned through hands-on sessions, discussions with peers from relevant fields, and direct application to my thesis research. I also participated in research activities involving non-thermal food processing technologies, contributing to scientific discussions, data interpretation, and collaborative research.

Through this experience, I successfully implemented 12+ mathematical models using MATLAB and developed the ability to apply data-driven approaches to research problems. Although the application was not ultimately incorporated into my thesis, the process significantly expanded my research capabilities and allowed me to explore a new technical field beyond my academic background. The experience also contributed to an ongoing collaborative manuscript currently being prepared for submission to a Q1 journal.

I am deeply grateful to my supervisor, Dr. Bara Yudhistira, S.T.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., for giving me the opportunity to take part in this international learning experience and introducing me to his academic network at Kasetsart University. Through this opportunity, I gained far more than technical knowledge — the people I met, the relationships I built, and the experiences I shared throughout the program have become some of the most valuable parts of my academic journey. I am truly thankful for the trust, guidance, and opportunity that made this experience possible.
